When I Look Back Now [CLOSED]

Who: Roxas and Pence
What: Two, longtime friends catching up in a trip around the town.
Where: Twilight Town, Market Street
When: Sunday afternoon, August 22nd.
Rating: PG-13.

One of the factors Roxas appreciated about moving to a normal home instead of another manor was the proximity - he lived closer to his friend's house than before. He had debated whether or not to bring the car, just in case, before deducing that the point of this was to walk around. And Market Street really was just a few blocks away. It was odd going down the familiar street, to the familiar sidewalk, and finally unto the familiar building. There was also Pence's father to think of, who he hadn't seen either. He was rather anxious about it; he didn't want to witness the vibrant man he had known since childhood so down. Maybe he would see him, maybe not. He didn't even know why he was so jumpy in not making a fool of himself. Had it been so long to the point where it felt he was visiting a new friend instead of an old one?

Regardless of the answer, he went up to the stoop and stood by the front door, ringing the door bell.

Pence was rushing around the modest home he shared with his father, thankful that today seemed to be a good day for the older man. His father was far from old yet it seemed as if he had aged years in the past few months. He sighed softly as he tossed the last load of laundry into the dryer and turned it on, knowing that the towels and things would be fine until he got back from his afternoon with his old friend. After a soft conversation with his father, telling him to call if he needed anything, the culinary arts student ran upstairs to change, barely getting his shoes on before the doorbell rang.

"Be back later, Dad!" He called out as he bypassed the last two steps and hit the landing with both feet before pulling open the door.

ZOMG I'm so sorry for the long wait Dx. I should be penalized!
Roxas waited, rocking back and forth slightly as his gaze shifted around - not that he had to do that for much longer. He barely got his finger off the doorbell before there were sounds coming from behind the door, and his eyes widened in amusement when he heard a louder stomp than necessary for someone coming down the stairs. Jumped the last few steps, probably. Hearing Pence saying goodbye to his father brought him back to his previous thoughts, yet it appeared that he wouldn't have to worry about it after all. And despite his initial nervousness, he didn't know how to feel about that either. A part of him wanted to see the old man, and a part of him didn't, considering it would bring down his mood if he witnessed the depressing change.

He shook his head at the thought. Why did awful stuff happen to good people?

There was no time to wonder on that philosophical question, however, because he heard the lock opening, and soon met the face of a long time friend. The grin came automatically. "Pence!"

He raised his closed hand out for a fist bump, incredibly glad to finally see him. Any doubt was completely blown out of his mind at that moment. "Long time, no see!"
